It should be exciting to see this chassis get finished for the first I-4 FWD drivetrain install in this chassis.

I'm just hoping I don't have to build a whole new car around the I-4

I saw the chassis in person this week - very cool as, always.  I may be biased but I'd cut my losses and go Subaru.

Seems the trans doesn't match the engine bolt pattern so you're needing to buy another trans or get another Ecotec engine that matches the trans you have.  Either way you gotta open the wallet.

There will also be the expense of Danny's custom fabrication to make an inline transverse four work within the rear frame work.  The TR-42 has a longer rear frame design since it was originally designed for a flat four, which will leave a chunk of unused space behind the engine, possibly leaving a why'd-you-do-that appearance.

Both drivetrains are ECU/fuel injected setups so there is really not much of a difference there.

But, then again, it's not my wallet and I really don't care too much when others try to tell me how to spend my money or design my projects.

That's one of my fears is that the Transverse will look like an afterthought in this chassis. IT SCREAMS for a longitudinal
BTW the front end is almost in.

That is the only currency allowed in my garage.

I would say it will be a cold day.. when you need any help from me. At least on the car building end. When peolple figure out how nice your cars are and you decide to build a huge shop with 3 phase equipment, industrial laythes, etc.. Then you might want to call me.

OK Jay, Here is the problem...so far.
The trans only clears the main suspension tubes by a few mm. If the engine torques it will be ugly!
Next is if I can clearance the tube you still wont be able to get the trans out.
Last, If we do need some sort of adapter for this engine to bolt to this trans the added thickness guarantees it wont fit.
Cant move the upper or lower tubes because they determine the suspension mount points and thus the geometry.
Kind of like putting the proverbial square peg in the round hole.....?
And the VW style chassis that you ordered would be worse.

Thought: What if I make the fire wall brace tubes removable...maybe we courld lift and clock the engine and trans around enough to pull it or at least unbolt the trans to pull them separately...hmmm. Ill work on that tonight and see.
Any word from your guy about the trans?
